It’s been a while since I read a stand-alone book. At this time last year, some of my students were reading Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. I would spend time reading each chapter with my kiddos and as soon as we finished the book, I continued on with the series. The series is great! Maybe one day I’ll do a Book Series Friday with the series. Fast forward a year and a new set of students are reading the book and getting just as excited about the book. It made me want to read more so I downloaded this onto my Kindle and started reading.
This book is filled with three stories: Percy and Clarrise are looking for Are’s chariot after her brothers prank her, a game of Capture the Flag gets interesting when one of the players gets taken by giant ants, and lastly, Percy, Thalia, and Nico have to retrieve Hades’ stolen sword by the request of Persephone. At the end of the book, there are interviews with the characters, puzzles, and games. If you loved the Percy Jackson series, you’ll love this companion novel.
